Workshops by our students

Monday

Were about to leave Warsaw and start our trip to London. Im sure that I can speak for everyone when I say we are very excited about the trip. Right now, we are boarding the bus and it seems as if we are having some trouble. The drivers and the bus are being checked if they are all in order. Unfortunately, without leaving we are already dallied by half an hour. Ok, never mind, right now its approximately 10.30am and the vehicle is indeed moving.
We are driving for about three and a half hours now and I think I am allowed to say the comfort of the bus wasnt at all marvellous but its just one of those things that you have no impact on what so ever. We are stopping for dinner very near the border and the food... well it was eatable if I had to be very bias. So anyway, we still have a humongous number of hours left untill we reach the ferry at the border of France. But its not all that awful, we get to play cards, listen to music, chat, watch movies or just have a snooze, basically we get to do anything we can think of to make the time pass. After all those hours, we are the point of passing the border of the Netherlands. Its coming up to 1100 pm and we are told to either go to sleep or just sit there without making a sound and listen to music or sth like that. And honestly with all due respect to the teachers isnt that easy for someone like me since I am more than 6 feet tall and the chairs are not at all comfortable. That means I will be just sitting here not being able to talk with anyone or even do anything at all, Im sure that will be the most boring and also the most tiring night of my life.

Tuesday

Finally, we arrived at the port. We are boarding the ferry and just about departure from France. The voyage is supposed to be lasting an hour but I guess we will find out if it will really take that little time. We are officially on English soil! The first thing that you can notice while entering the UK are the beautiful cliffs, which are truly wonderful. We are heading straight to London, to be more precise, the Greenwich park.  Right now, as Im standing here I must say the view is stunning and the weather oh, it just couldnt be better. Everybody just cant stop taking photos. We were all just so amazed by the view of London which we could see from the top of the hill. After that very pleasant walk we had through the park, we are going to see the supposable even better view from the London eye. Ok, so on our first day we have already encountered a big problem, one of our own has brought a knife to the London eye and apparently didnt really think It through especially since we were reminded to leave all our sharp objects in the bus, but anyway, besides that one problem its awesome, we are coming up to the highest point of the eye and gosh, seriously this is so remarkable. I can see pretty much the entire city from here. It seems as if Im not the only one enjoying this, everybody is amazed by this truly stunning view. We are having a 45minute break right now and we are spending it, eating sushi which might not be the best idea since we will have dinner at our host familys house but who cares, if you only live ones, you might as well enjoy it! We are heading now towards the museum of nature, we are going on the underground actually and that might not be too easy because of the amount of people that will be using it at this time, it will be very easy to get lost. We just got off and Im surprised by the fact that no one got lost, everyone is here, nobody is missing, thats a success I say. We are entering the museum and to be honest Im not that impressed and the further I go the more board I am, but I dont think thats the fault of the museum, I just think nature isnt really my thing especially when I am as exhausted as I am now. The next stop is the museum of science. Thats a bit more interesting but then again not as much fun as I thought it was going to be. That was it for the day when it came to London. Now all that was left was to head back to Wellington and meet our host families which than would take as to their homes and give us some supper. My family was very nice and the house wasnt too bad either. So, all in all the day was quite a good one, and I hope tomorrow will be just as good.

Wednesday

So, the day started pretty early, we had to get up 600 am, get ready, eat some breakfast which will be prepared by the lovely families which are hosting us. As the first thing we are going to see the Westminster Abbey which a church, but from what I heard its more of burial than a abbey. After that we are going to see the Madam Tussaud museum which I am very excited about, then we are going shopping on Oxford street and then in the timetable we have planned to see the Piccadilly Circus. Right now, after having our marvellous breakfast we are heading to the bus which is parked just two minutes away from our house. So, the travel itself is taking quite a long time, we are on the road for over an hour but we are supposed to arrive shortly. The museum seems very well done but not necessarily all that much fun as I thought it would be. Dont get me wrong, the sculptures are as realistic as I was promised, but yet, when I got here I just didnt find it as exciting as I thought it would be. So, after going through the museum in just under 40 minutes we are heading to the gorgeous st. Jamess park and I must say it is outstanding. Its full of colourful flowers and its just filled with all sorts of animals that unfortunately I cannot name since as I said Nature and everything to do with it is not really my hobby. We are going to spend here more less 30 minutes and then we are going to Oxford street. Now we are able to spent our pocket money in stores like schuh or urban outfitters, river island and obviously, Primark. After spending this time-wasting money, it was obvious that we should go and spend some more, so we went to the Piccadilly Circus and used up all our pounds on totally pointless things like mms or practically anything that you could in the nickelodeon store. But still if you got some money, you might as well spend it. Now we are arriving at the meeting point to get picked up by our host families. After a short drive and refreshing ourselves up we got a delicious dinner which we really enjoyed, since we were famished. Now we are having a pleasant chat with them about our day. After that lovely meal, we unfortunately will be stuck with our workbooks for the next half an hour. As Im doing them right now I can already tell you that they arent easy, we have to know so many details from the trip dates, all the smallest details and maybe for someone interesting facts. But I guess you cant only have fun and games on a school trip, you should also actually learn something. Soon after that as it already was late we went to put are heads down.

Thursday

The fourth is more about London than the other ones. To start of the day, we are going to see the apparently one of the most amazing places in London, Trafalgar square. Right now, we are heading to the bus and It seems as if we are going to be late, because one of my roommates is having trouble leaving the house. Anyway though, we made it, sort of, we are five minutes late, but thankfully the bus is still here. As we are on our way to the national gallery our teachers keep remanding us that we are on a tough schedule so I lets hope no one gets lost today. As we wait outside the museum we are greeted by our tour Guide. We just walked into the first room and she already started an absolutely nonsense lecture. It is especially boring because quite frankly our Guide is not an eloquent English speaker. But it could have been worse, it could have been going on for more than those horrifying 45 minutes. We just finished up in the museum and we are going to Oxford, the city in which you can find all the most intelligent young people in the world. We are just about to arrive and you can already tell from the distance that this is oxford; the architecture is so beautiful. But the more I walk around here the more boring I find it here. Everything is the same. But I guess its still worth seeing it at least just to say you were there. And Now after we have seen the college we are going home. And to be honest I have no more strength to do anything else today.

Friday/Saturday

This is our last day and I cannot believe how fast the time passed over those last few days in England. Today we are going to see the one of the things that I probably wanted to see the most. And that is the globe. After that we are going to see Canterbury the town with probably one of the most beautiful cathedrals in the UK. Today we were told to come to the meeting point twenty minutes earlier since we are walking to the train station and then on underground all the way to the globe. So, I will really have to get a move on with my packing. We are packed and we are going to have our lovely English breakfast. After that we are just going to say our good buys and head to the Bus stop. Well thats not good, we are at the train station and we are not allowed in, since we are a big group and we need to leave space in the train for people going to work. But thankfully I can see our guide jumping and shouting so that we calm down. She apparently has an idea, which is that we go by public bus, and that might not be the most comfortable solution, but as long as it works Im down with it. I cant believe it worked, we actually made it in time for our tour around the theatre, we are even 20 minutes early. Our tour guide is great, hes a really good speaker and I can see that everybody is all eyes and ears into the the tour. We even got sit in the theatre while actors having a rehearsal. And after the rehearsal we got see to extremely cute babies having their pictures taken probably for their baptism. Well I can say this was the best part of the trip. And now all we have left is go to Canterbury and then just travel all the way home. The Canterbury is marvellous. The town is just so beautiful. But we are not visiting anything. This stop is just to have some time for ourselves so we can go shopping. I must say I had a really lovely time and Im going to miss England. Now as we are boarding the ferry the situation really does evoke emotions. This time we are going back on a bigger ferry, so we actually get to go outside and look at the see during the night and as Im out here, there just nothing like it having the view of the sea and stars above you. This was just a great trip. We are now going of the ferry and we are immediately told to go to sleep our just sit quietly and respect all the other passengers. After that long ride, we made it safely to Warsaw and were picked up by our parents. I would say this was a very well organised and planned trip and Im sure everyone else enjoyed it just as much as I did.
